Poços de Caldas in four days: Thermas, mountains, waterfalls and cafés

Four full days in Poços de Caldas with Thermas, cable car, waterfalls, gardens, cafés and the option of Poços É Jazz in November 2026.

Imagined artistic composition of Poços de Caldas, with no real geographical correspondence between scenes: two separate vignettes show the stained glass in the interior ceiling of Thermas Antônio Carlos and Véu das Noivas falls among rocks and vegetation.

GETTING STARTED

Begin with the squares and Thermas, ascend to Parque do Cristo, reserve a day for waterfalls and finish with Mercado Municipal, Recanto Japonês and IMS. These are four full days, excluding arrival and departure, with cafés along the way and the option of Poços É Jazz on 14 and 15 November 2026.

Who it is for: First-time visitors to Poços de Caldas wanting heritage, nature, cafés and culture in four full days, excluding arrival and departure.

Four days with room to enjoy them

You can distribute these four days pleasantly: begin with the squares and Thermas, ascend Serra de São Domingos on the second day, devote the third to waterfalls and finish among the market, gardens and culture. Cafés provide proper breaks, especially at Parque do Cristo, Fonte dos Amores and IMS Poços.

This is a four-full-day sightseeing itinerary, excluding arrival and departure. To include Poços É Jazz, one possibility is sightseeing from 12 to 15 November 2026, arriving by the 11th and leaving from the 16th. The festival is confirmed for 14 and 15 November at Alameda Poços and fits the trip without taking all your days.

On other dates, keep the sequence as a starting point and adjust days of the week to attraction hours. The selection brings together different sides of the city without trying to exhaust Poços de Caldas: the idea is to see plenty and still have time to sit, have coffee and rest.

Stay near the squares and organise waterfall day

My suggested base is the centre, near Praça Pedro Sanches, Parque José Affonso Junqueira, Thermas and cable car access. When comparing accommodation, look at the address in relation to these places: this fit helps make the first day walkable and makes returning for a break before evening activities easier.

For arrival by car, the municipality identifies access via BR-146, BR-459 and BR-267. Check the route from your origin; the publication on road access is old and does not confirm current intercity bus routes or timetables.

Within the city, Floramar offers searches for lines, routes and stops. For the day of Véu das Noivas, Cascata das Antas and possibly Bortolan, I suggest a car or hired transport with return agreed. These places share a day but do not form a continuous walking circuit. Recanto Japonês and IMS also require planning travel between venues.

Day 1: squares, old trees and an afternoon at Thermas

Begin at Praça Pedro Sanches, observing the bandstand and Monumento ao Brasil, and continue to Parque José Affonso Junqueira. Palace Casino, the illuminated fountain, pergola and century-old trees compose the outing there. Give the morning to observing this ensemble without turning the squares into a photo race.

After a break in the centre, devote the afternoon to Thermas Antônio Carlos at Rua Junqueiras, s/n. Opened in 1931, they continue the exploration of the city’s heritage. The stained-glass image accompanying this section shows an interior detail: an invitation to pay attention to the architecture too.

If you want to try a thermal bath, check the service and advance-purchase options through the channel indicated by Codemge. Baths, showers and saunas are among the official options; choose the leisure experience you would like. Also check access conditions for visiting the building. Published hours are Wednesday to Saturday and public holidays, 09:00–19:00, and Sunday, 09:00–14:00, with the ticket office closing 30 minutes earlier.

Day 2 morning: see Poços from the mountain heights

Reserve the following morning for the cable car from the centre to Parque do Cristo. The operator states a 1,600-metre route reaching the top of Serra de São Domingos. There, combine the monument with views of the city and mountains: a change of perspective after the first day among buildings and squares.

Take a break at Café de Cristo before descending. The establishment is listed on the park’s official page, so it fits without another outing just for coffee. Check service and menu on site; the source gives neither independent hours nor a particular product. Mercado do Cristo can also form part of the visit, while adventure activities remain optional choices.

The park publishes daily opening, 09:00–19:00. The cable car lists 09:00–18:00 Sunday to Friday and until 19:00 on Saturdays, with ticket sales until 17:00 and usual Tuesday maintenance closure. Check operation on your date and organise the descent by transport hours, especially if extending the visit.

Cristo appears at dusk in this image; in the itinerary, the ascent is in the morning alongside the park café break.

In the afternoon, woodland and a snack at Fonte dos Amores

After returning from Cristo, continue to Fonte dos Amores. The woodland, Giulio Starace’s lovers sculpture and carp pond change the afternoon’s pace: instead of seeking another grand panorama, you look at the garden and artwork’s details.

Café da Fonte is the day’s most clearly defined food break: the operator lists snacks and drinks. Sit down before ending the visit, whose published opening is 08:00–17:00. The suggestion excludes walking to the mountain summit; the cable car already covers that part and leaves more time to enjoy Fonte dos Amores.

Day 3: Véu das Noivas and Cascata das Antas, with optional Bortolan

Begin the third day at Véu das Noivas, which combines three cascades, viewpoints, trails and craft shops. The suggestion is to use the morning to observe the falls and explore visitor areas, with time for a break before continuing. The page publishes daily opening, 09:00–17:00.

To make food predictable, bring a snack and use the picnic area as a stop. The operator mentions food trucks but does not identify individual hours, so do not depend on them to guarantee lunch. This sequence focuses on viewing waterfalls without recommending swimming.

Then travel by vehicle to Parque Natural Cascata das Antas. Besides the landscape, the woodland and ruins of the hydroelectric plant opened in 1898 add a link with electrification history. Published opening is daily, 09:00–17:30.

Represa Bortolan on Avenida João Pinheiro can complete the afternoon with another waterside landscape. If attending the Poços É Jazz show, I suggest keeping only the two parks and returning to the centre. This leaves a real interval for rest and a meal before going out again.

A blues evening at Poços É Jazz in November 2026

The calendar consulted on 21 October 2026 confirms the 9º Poços É Jazz Festival on 14 and 15 November 2026 at Alameda Poços, with free admission. The event combines jazz and literature and offers a good opportunity to add culture without reserving a whole day for it.

For the proposed sequence, the choice is Goldie Pipes & The Simi Brothers on Saturday, 14 November 2026, at 20:30. The advertised repertoire connects with Chicago and Texas blues, a change of atmosphere after a waterfall day. Return to accommodation in good time to rest, eat and organise travel to Alameda Poços.

If you prefer daytime activities, the announcement also lists Wolf Fechus at 13:30 and an activity about Tom Zé at 15:00 on the same Saturday. In that case, move waterfall day to another date and reduce the programme taking its place. These are confirmed highlights rather than the full two-day schedule; follow the official website before finalising the sequence.

Day 4: market shopping and a stroll around Recanto Japonês

Open the fourth day at Mercado Municipal on Rua Pernambuco. Sweets, cheeses, drinks and fruit are among products sold: it is a stop to explore the market’s offering and choose something to take away if you wish. Keep this visit for the morning, as published Sunday opening is 07:00–12:00. For 15 November, confirm any holiday adjustments.

Then continue to Recanto Japonês in Jardim dos Estados. Japanese-inspired gardens, lakes, bridges and architectural elements make a good transition between the busy market and afternoon culture. Published opening is daily, 09:00–17:00.

Recanto lists Casa de Chá and Café do Recanto, but the itinerary’s more detailed break comes next at Rotina Café Galeria. You can therefore devote the visit to gardens and then travel to IMS, also in Jardim dos Estados. This section’s photograph shows only an old detail of the green area, rather than the whole ensemble or its current condition.

Exhibitions and café in the chalet to end the trip

Finish at IMS Poços, Rua Teresópolis, 90. The cultural centre and exhibitions have free admission; check what is on for your date. If including cinema, consult its programme and separate tickets before arranging the rest of the afternoon.

Rotina Café Galeria operates in the Christiano Osório chalet and offers snacks, sweets, cakes, savoury bites and coffee. It is a break within the visit without adding another address: see the exhibitions and then sit down to eat, choosing from what is available.

IMS and the café publish opening Tuesday to Friday, 13:00–19:00, and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, 09:00–19:00; they close on Mondays. The combination also provides a concrete rainy-day alternative: bring this visit forward and move Recanto Japonês to another period. To return to the festival on Sunday, check the schedule and allow time for travel to Alameda Poços.

From the itinerary to packing and budget

With the sequence chosen, use Mala Inteligente to turn outings into a checklist. Enter the full duration, including travel days, and adjust climate and traveller profiles. Review walking shoes, rain protection and items requested by the service you book at Thermas. The tool organises the list; it does not provide an automatic weather forecast for Poços.

In Calculadora de Custos de Viagem, enter destination, days, people and style to build an initial estimate in reais. The tool provides reference amounts for accommodation, food and transport plus a 15% margin. Compare available styles and check chosen admissions and services separately, such as the cable car and a Thermas bath. The result is an illustrative estimate rather than a quotation.

To continue looking for accommodation and food, Viajandar’s Poços de Caldas page provides access to city service directories. Use listed addresses to deepen the research and compare location with the itinerary; presence in the directory does not amount to a verified recommendation of each establishment.

Your itinerary, ready to save

Day 1 — Thursday, 12 November 2026, in the festival suggestion

Begin at Praça Pedro Sanches and continue to Parque José Affonso Junqueira. Take a break in the centre and save the afternoon for Thermas Antônio Carlos, with an optional bath booked through the official channel.

Prefer an alternative? If the forecast favours the mountains only today, swap the whole programme with day two: cable car, Parque do Cristo and Fonte dos Amores. Reschedule the Thermas service before swapping.

Day 2 — Friday, 13 November 2026

Take the cable car to Parque do Cristo in the morning, see the monument and landscape and pause at Café de Cristo. After descending, continue to Fonte dos Amores, with woodland, sculpture and a snack at Café da Fonte before its 17:00 closure.

Prefer an alternative? If the cable car does not operate or weather disrupts the mountain outing, visit IMS Poços from 13:00 and pause at Rotina Café Galeria. Move Parque do Cristo and Fonte dos Amores to another day.

Day 3 — Saturday, 14 November 2026

With transport organised, visit Véu das Noivas in the morning and pause for the snack brought for the picnic area. Continue to Cascata das Antas and, if you want one more stop, Bortolan. Return to rest and eat before going to Alameda Poços: Goldie Pipes & The Simi Brothers is announced for 20:30.

Prefer an alternative? For a shorter afternoon, remove Represa Bortolan and return to the centre after Cascata das Antas. If rain makes the parks unsuitable, use IMS Poços and Rotina Café Galeria as a covered outing and rearrange the waterfalls.

Day 4 — Sunday, 15 November 2026

Go to Mercado Municipal in the morning before its published Sunday 12:00 closure. Then visit Recanto Japonês and continue to IMS Poços for exhibitions and a Rotina Café Galeria break. The festival continues that day; consult the official programme to reserve part of the afternoon or evening for Alameda Poços.

Prefer an alternative? If it rains, extend the IMS Poços visit and Rotina Café Galeria break, leaving Recanto Japonês for a swap with another period of favourable weather. IMS cinema can also fit according to its own programme and ticket.

Before you go

  • To sightsee from 12 to 15 November 2026, keep arrival and departure outside those four days and count the nights actually needed.
  • Consult Thermas Antônio Carlos visiting conditions and book the desired service through the official channel. Ticket sales end 30 minutes before closing.
  • Check cable car operation: the published schedule provides for Tuesday maintenance with exceptions and ticket sales until 17:00.
  • Organise transport between Véu das Noivas, Cascata das Antas and Bortolan, including return to the centre.
  • Bring a snack for Véu das Noivas if relying on a picnic; the page does not give individual food truck hours.
  • Check Sunday and holiday hours for 15 November, especially Mercado Municipal, whose published Sunday service ends at 12:00.
  • Consult IMS’s current programme and separate cinema tickets; do not assume a particular exhibition.
  • Reconfirm the 14 November 2026 show at 20:30 and any other chosen activities on the Poços É Jazz website.
  • Build a Mala Inteligente checklist for the full trip duration and check with Thermas which items the chosen service requires.
  • Use the calculator as an initial estimate in reais and check accommodation, transport, admissions and services separately under your travel conditions.

Questions to help you decide

Do the four days include arrival and departure?

This itinerary takes four full sightseeing days. Arrival and departure are excluded. To follow the 12–15 November 2026 suggestion without cutting activities, arrange arrival by the 11th and departure from the 16th.

Which area is worth staying in?

The centre is the most practical suggestion for this sequence because of proximity to the squares, Thermas Antônio Carlos and cable car access. Compare each accommodation’s location with these points; no particular hotel has been assessed here.

Do I need a car throughout the four days?

You do not need a car for every outing. The central square sequence can be walked, and Floramar offers urban line searches. To combine Véu das Noivas, Cascata das Antas and possibly Bortolan, arrange a car or hired transport with return agreed.

Must I book a bath at Thermas?

You can build the afternoon around architecture and book a bath or another service if desired. Consult Codemge about visiting conditions and advance purchase. The outing is presented here as leisure without a promise of therapeutic benefit.

How can I adapt the itinerary if it rains?

Bring IMS Poços and the Rotina Café Galeria break forward or move the Thermas visit to this period, respecting opening hours. Recanto Japonês and parks can then take another day. IMS closes on Mondays; Thermas publishes Wednesday-to-Sunday and holiday service.

Is Poços É Jazz in November 2026 confirmed?

The municipality and organisers confirm the free festival on 14 and 15 November 2026 at Alameda Poços. Advertised attractions include Goldie Pipes & The Simi Brothers on 14 November at 20:30. Highlights mentioned in the article are not the complete programme.
