GETTING STARTED

Three full days to explore Blumenau through house museums, art, textile history, crystal and walks, with lunch at Biergarten and Bier Vila. Your evening at the Christmas celebrations follows the confirmed 2026 calendar; arrival and departure are counted separately.

Who it is for: Couples, friends and families wanting three full days of urban sightseeing in Blumenau, with museums, food, walks and an evening at the Christmas celebrations, including those who do not drink beer.

Three sightseeing days, with arrival and departure counted separately

You can discover a varied side of Blumenau in three full days: step inside the houses at Museu da Família Colonial, explore exhibitions, learn about textile history at Museu Hering and set aside a morning for crystal. Between these visits, there is room for food, walks and an evening at the Christmas celebrations. The sequence below is a suggestion, with arrival and departure counted separately; it covers urban sightseeing rather than attempting the whole Vale Europeu region.

If you fly into Navegantes, allow separately for the overland journey to Blumenau. FURB’s access guidance points to the connection via BR-101 and BR-470. Within the city, group walks in the centre and around Vila Germânica–Parque Ramiro Ruediger; plan transport for Museu Hering in Bom Retiro and Mozart Crystal in Salto Weissbach.

BluMob provides route and timetable searches and an app showing bus locations. Look up each leg using the attraction’s address; taxis are an option for journeys where you want greater comfort. Before settling the order of the days, choose your evening at the Christmas celebrations and check museum visiting days: these will shape your schedule.

Day 1: houses, memory and Horto Edith Gaertner

Begin at Alameda Duque de Caxias, 78, in the centre. Museu da Família Colonial brings together three house museums and objects belonging to local families: a good introduction to the city through its homes and everyday memories before you explore the centre’s façades and streets.

Include Horto Botânico Edith Gaertner in the same visit, passing through Cemitério dos Gatos, the cat cemetery that forms part of the complex. The morning then alternates museum interiors with a walk through the botanical garden, without changing neighbourhoods. The official listing gives visiting hours Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–16:00, with an admission charge. Afterwards, continue to Rua XV de Novembro for lunch.

Lunch on Rua XV and an afternoon choosing between art and beer

Our lunch suggestion is Biergarten at Museu da Cerveja, Rua XV de Novembro, 160. The establishment’s page advertises German food and snacks alongside draught beers. It is included for its food and convenient location between central sights, without requiring you to spend the afternoon tasting beer. The kitchen lists service from 09:30 to 16:00; Biergarten closes on the last Sunday of the month.

After lunch, visit Museu de Arte de Blumenau at number 161 on the same street. The historic building from 1875 houses five exhibition rooms, with temporary shows and free admission. This combination changes the morning’s subject: after family homes and objects, you devote the afternoon to visual art. Check the current exhibition and visiting hours for your date.

If brewing history interests you more, replace Museu de Arte with Museu da Cerveja. The operator advertises a guided visit through eight themed rooms, with three tastings and the final tour starting at 16:00. It also closes on the last Sunday of the month. For anyone who does not drink, keeping Museu de Arte is a straightforward choice that fits the itinerary.

If this outing falls on the last Sunday of the month, an alternative for lunch is Bier Vila in Vila Germânica. In that case, include transport to and from the centre so you can visit Museu de Arte in the afternoon.

Day 2: textile history at Museu Hering

On day two, visit Museu Hering at Rua Hermann Hering, 1740, in Bom Retiro. The visit explores the history of the company and its workers, fashion, the textile industry, architecture and sustainability. It broadens the trip beyond beer-related landmarks and looks at the work and production that are also part of Blumenau’s history.

The museum occupies a century-old half-timbered building recognised as state heritage, and admission is listed as free. It opens Monday to Saturday; because official pages differ between a 10:00 and an 11:00 opening, plan the morning around the session confirmed in your booking. After the visit, take transport to Vila Germânica for lunch.

If Hering only has a session on your first travel day, swap the first two days in their entirety: visit Hering, have lunch at Bier Vila, then explore Parque Ramiro Ruediger and Empório Vila Germânica on day 1. On day 2, visit Família Colonial and the botanical garden in the morning, have lunch at Biergarten and continue to Museu de Arte in the afternoon. That way, each museum is visited only once. The swap depends on day two falling between Tuesday and Sunday and on confirmed visiting hours; it also works when your trip begins on a Monday.

Bier Vila, a park walk and time in Vila Germânica

For lunch, our choice is Bier Vila, listed on Empório Vila Germânica’s official website at Rua Alberto Stein, 199, in Velha. The description includes traditional dishes, snacks and rösti: check the day’s menu and choose according to your appetite, without making beer the focus of the meal. Alemão Batata Choperia is another alternative identified by the complex.

Afterwards, walk through Parque Ramiro Ruediger at Rua Alberto Stein, 416, beside Vila Germânica. The park has a lake, walking track, sports courts and leisure areas. Use this part of the afternoon to change pace after the museum and lunch, without turning your walk into a distance target.

Complete the outing in Empório Vila Germânica’s shops. If this is also your evening at the Christmas celebrations, leave a break between the afternoon and the event, especially if you want to watch the 20:00 parade. For another meal in the area, Choperia e Restaurante Vila Germânica also appears in the official list; check the service planned for your date.

Choose your evening from the Christmas calendar

Natal em Blumenau is announced for 26 November 2026 to 10 January 2027 at Parque Vila Germânica and other locations around the city. Admission to the event is free; budget separately for food and any paid attractions.

For this itinerary, the most practical choice is a parade on Rua Alberto Stein on the same evening devoted to Vila Germânica. You will already have explored the area during the day and can return after a break. The parades have specific dates announced by the municipality:

If your trip coincides with a parade on Rua XV de Novembro, move the City Hall and Cathedral walk to that date and remain in the centre for the evening. Outside parade dates, keep the Christmas celebrations at Vila Germânica as an evening outing during the announced period and check that day’s programme. Recheck the calendar shortly before travelling for possible changes.

  • Rua Alberto Stein, at 20:00: 28 November 2026; 5, 12, 19 and 22 December 2026.
  • Rua XV de Novembro, at 20:00: 9 and 16 December 2026.

Day 3: a morning devoted to crystal

Set aside the third morning for Mozart Crystal at Rua Bahia, 4253, in Salto Weissbach. The municipal description presents a visit focused on crystal and how it is made by hand, with explanations of melting, cutting and polishing. After homes, art and the textile industry, this change of subject adds variety to the three days.

Before booking and leaving your hotel, confirm the type of visit, time and price; if you want to see live glassblowing, ask whether it is included. If the visit does not fit, replace it with Museu da Cerveja in the centre. If you already chose that museum on day one, visit the Museu de Arte you left out instead.

Back in the centre, Biergarten can be your lunch stop, provided you arrive during kitchen service and it is not the last Sunday of the month. Returning to the same restaurant makes it easier to organise the afternoon, devoted to City Hall, Rua XV de Novembro and the Cathedral.

City Hall and Rua XV de Novembro on foot

Start the afternoon walk at City Hall, Praça Victor Konder, 2. This is an outdoor stop to observe the building and its relationship with Blumenau’s tourism imagery. Inaugurated in 1982 on the former railway-station site, its architecture imitates half-timbered construction: that detail helps distinguish it from an original colonial house.

Then follow Rua XV de Novembro towards Catedral São Paulo Apóstolo at number 955. Make this stretch a walk to observe façades, stopping as the group wishes. If you had lunch at Biergarten, go first to City Hall to begin the walk from there.

The Cathedral ends the walk with a different style of architecture

Finish at Catedral São Paulo Apóstolo. Gottfried Boehm’s design, the consecration of the present church in 1958 and the completion of the tower in 1963 offer another chapter of local architecture. After the half-timbered buildings seen throughout the trip, pause to observe the Cathedral’s columns, roof and stained glass.

If you can go inside, respect services and the space’s religious use. Confirm interior access: Mass and office hours are not the same as tourist visiting hours. Viewing the exterior already allows you to include the Cathedral along the route; on Rua XV parade evenings, it can be your final cultural stop before the Christmas programme.

The centre or Vila Germânica: choose to suit your plans

For this itinerary, compare accommodation in the centre and around Vila Germânica. The centre suits those prioritising Museu da Família Colonial, Rua XV’s museums and the walk to the Cathedral. When assessing accommodation, check its address in relation to those sights: being in the same neighbourhood does not mean being close to every attraction.

The Vila Germânica area makes more sense if you value lunch at Bier Vila, Parque Ramiro Ruediger and the journey back after the Christmas celebrations. Its advantage depends on the actual distance between your accommodation and the complex. Whichever base you choose, keep journeys to Museu Hering and Mozart Crystal in your plans.

Compare the exact address, your desired comfort and the conditions stated by the establishment for your dates. The best location is the one that makes the outings and evenings you most want to enjoy easier.

Turn the itinerary into packing and budget plans

Once you have decided the order of visits, open Mala Inteligente and enter the whole trip duration, including arrival and departure. Select the forecast conditions you have checked and the traveller profiles to generate a checklist. Then review it for walks around the centre and park, museum visits and the time you intend to spend out at night.

In the Travel Cost Calculator, enter Blumenau, the total number of days, the number of people and travel style to compare estimates in reais. The tool gives reference amounts for accommodation, food and transport, plus a 15% buffer; the result is an estimate, not a quote. Add your chosen admission tickets and the prices checked for your travel dates to your plans.

To continue exploring the destination, visit Viajandar’s Blumenau guide. Before finalising bookings, fit your Hering reservation, other museums’ opening days and the evening at the Christmas celebrations into your calendar.

Day 1 — morning

Begin at Museu da Família Colonial, Alameda Duque de Caxias, 78, and explore the house museums and Horto Edith Gaertner.

Prefer an alternative? If the trip begins on Monday, swap the first two days: on Monday, visit Museu Hering with a booking, have lunch at Bier Vila, then explore Parque Ramiro Ruediger and Empório Vila Germânica; on Tuesday, visit Família Colonial and the botanical garden in the morning, have lunch at Biergarten and continue to Museu de Arte according to confirmed hours.

Day 1 — lunch and afternoon

Have lunch at Biergarten at Museu da Cerveja, then visit Museu de Arte at Rua XV de Novembro, 161.

Prefer an alternative? Replace Museu de Arte with Museu da Cerveja at Rua XV de Novembro, 160, if you prefer brewing history. On the last Sunday of the month, keep Museu de Arte and have lunch at Bier Vila, allowing for transport to and from Vila Germânica.

Day 2 — late morning

Visit Museu Hering in Bom Retiro during the session confirmed in your booking. Afterwards, take transport to Vila Germânica.

Prefer an alternative? If Hering has no session on day two but has one on day one, swap the two entire days when booking: day 1 with Hering, Bier Vila, Parque Ramiro Ruediger and Empório; day 2 with Família Colonial and the botanical garden in the morning, Biergarten for lunch and Museu de Arte in the afternoon. Make the change only if day two falls between Tuesday and Sunday and museum hours allow it.

Day 2 — lunch and afternoon

Have lunch at Bier Vila, walk through Parque Ramiro Ruediger and explore Empório Vila Germânica. Leave a break before the evening programme.

Prefer an alternative? For a different lunch choice, check Alemão Batata Choperia, also listed by Empório Vila Germânica. To reduce walking, limit the outing to Empório’s shops.

One evening of the trip — Christmas celebrations

Return to Parque Vila Germânica for the Christmas celebrations. On the announced Rua Alberto Stein dates, fit the 20:00 parade into that same evening.

Prefer an alternative? If the trip coincides with 9 or 16 December 2026, keep the evening for the 20:00 parade on Rua XV de Novembro and move the centre walk to that date.

Day 3 — morning

With the type of visit confirmed, go to Mozart Crystal at Rua Bahia, 4253, in Salto Weissbach to learn about crystal and how it is made by hand.

Prefer an alternative? If you cannot confirm the Mozart Crystal visit, go to Museu da Cerveja; if you have already visited it, choose the Museu de Arte left out of day one.

Day 3 — lunch and afternoon

Return to the centre; if the kitchen is serving, have lunch at Biergarten. Then observe City Hall in Praça Victor Konder, follow Rua XV de Novembro and finish at Catedral São Paulo Apóstolo.

Prefer an alternative? To finish with another meal in Vila Germânica, check Choperia e Restaurante Vila Germânica and add the journey after the Cathedral.

Before you go

  • Choose your evening at the Christmas celebrations and check the official programme shortly before travelling; parades have specific dates and do not happen every night.
  • Allow three full sightseeing days, then add arrival and departure, including the overland journey between Navegantes and Blumenau where applicable.
  • Plan Museu da Família Colonial between Tuesday and Sunday and confirm your Museu Hering session through booking; Hering’s pages differ on opening time.
  • If you need to bring Hering forward to day one, move the Vila Germânica lunch and outings with it; Família Colonial, the botanical garden and Museu de Arte move to day two, subject to opening hours.
  • Avoid planning Museu da Cerveja or Biergarten on the last Sunday of the month. Biergarten’s kitchen lists service until 16:00.
  • Confirm the type of visit, time and conditions at Mozart Crystal before booking and travelling to Salto Weissbach.
  • Check BluMob routes using the attractions’ addresses and decide which journeys warrant a taxi for comfort.
  • Check restaurant service for your chosen date; dishes described on websites are not guaranteed to be available that day.
  • Check whether the Cathedral’s interior can be visited and respect services; office hours are not tourist visiting hours.
  • Use the full trip duration in Mala Inteligente and the calculator. Add chosen admission tickets to your plans and treat the budget as an estimate in reais.

Questions to help you decide

Do the three days include arrival and departure?

These are three full days of urban sightseeing, excluding arrival and departure. The itinerary brings together the centre, Bom Retiro, Vila Germânica and Salto Weissbach; it does not attempt to cover the whole Vale Europeu region.

Does this itinerary work for people who do not drink beer?

Yes. Museu da Família Colonial, Horto Edith Gaertner, Museu de Arte, Museu Hering, Mozart Crystal, Parque Ramiro Ruediger and the Cathedral add variety to the trip. Museu da Cerveja is optional, and the restaurant stops are included for their food.

Do I need to rent a car?

You can plan the trip by combining walks with buses or taxis. Check BluMob routes using the attractions’ addresses, especially for Museu Hering and Mozart Crystal. Arrival via Navegantes requires separate overland travel planning.

When are Blumenau’s Christmas 2026 celebrations?

The announced programme runs from 26 November 2026 to 10 January 2027. There are 20:00 parades on Rua Alberto Stein on 28 November and 5, 12, 19 and 22 December 2026; Rua XV de Novembro hosts them on 9 and 16 December 2026.

Is everything at the Christmas event free?

Admission to the event has been announced as free. That does not mean food or every attraction is free of charge; check the conditions of any activity you want to include.

Can I follow the order on any day of the week?

The order depends on the calendar. Museu da Família Colonial lists visits Tuesday to Sunday; Hering opens Monday to Saturday with booking. If Hering only has a session on day one, visit Hering and Vila Germânica that day, then Família Colonial and Museu de Arte on day two, observing each venue’s opening hours. Museu da Cerveja and Biergarten close on the last Sunday of the month.

Does Mozart Crystal guarantee a live glassblowing demonstration?

Do not count on a live glassblowing demonstration without confirming beforehand. The visit described by the municipality covers how crystal is made by hand, including melting, cutting and polishing; check the available type of visit, time and conditions before booking.
