GETTING STARTED

Four full days on Foz's Brazilian side, with arrival and departure separate: waterfalls with park lunch; Parque das Aves and Marco das Três Fronteiras; Itaipu and Ecomuseu with Le Mir lunch and Mercado Barrageiro; Buddhist temple and mosque with an Arab food break. Adapt the order to opening days, with alternatives for more walking, engineering or less travel.

Who it is for: Brazilian travellers wanting four full days on Foz do Iguaçu's Brazilian side, with nature, culture, leisurely meals and comfortable choices without depending on luxury.

Four sightseeing days, with arrival and departure separate

You can plan four very different Foz days: one for waterfalls, another for aviaries and meeting rivers, a third for the dam and regional memory, and the last for temples and Arab cooking. Allow room for meals and avoid turning every stop into a race to the next.

These are four full sightseeing days on the Brazilian side, excluding arrival and departure. They provide variety in Foz; outings to Argentina and Paraguay require their own trip time. Arrive via Foz do Iguaçu International Airport, IGU, by bus at Rodoviária Internacional or by car, with BR-277 the main road connection to Curitiba.

Use numbers as a suggested sequence, not a fixed calendar. Ecomuseu, Mercado Barrageiro, Marco, the mosque and Le Mir opening days help determine the best order for your dates.

Where to stay and when easier transport is worthwhile

For this route, begin accommodation searches in the centre if combining buses with central meals. Terminal de Transporte Urbano is on Avenida Juscelino Kubitscheck near Avenida Argentina. Municipal guidance links route 120 with the airport, Parque das Aves and falls; 101/102 with Itaipu; and 103 with the Buddhist temple. Recheck routes before leaving.

Compare Avenida das Cataratas' corridor too if organising the stay around the first two days. Assess the exact address and transport to Itaipu and temples: the avenue's name alone does not solve logistics.

Comfort can come from one transport choice. Compare buses on direct routes with taxis, ride-hailing or transfers between temples and after Marco. On Itaipu day, the suggested central lunch adds journeys before Mercado Barrageiro in Vila A. Include that route in costs. If renting a car, consider all four days together.

Day 1: waterfalls with time to look and lunch

Begin with the outing deserving your longest attention. At Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, visits start at the visitor centre with buses to Trilha das Cataratas. The roughly 1.5 km route passes viewpoints and reaches the walkway overlooking Devil's Throat. Reserve the morning to walk and stop whenever the landscape calls.

After the trail, take a proper break at Restaurante Canoas Mirim in Espaço Porto Canoas. Its Brazilian buffet allows lunch without leaving the park, practical after the walkways. The checked page lists daily service, 12:00–16:00, with park admission required.

For more walking, afternoon Circuito São João offers 2.8 km with historical-cultural points, included in admission. As access is at the bus's first stop, confirm internal circulation to arrange this second walk. For a lighter day, keep Trilha das Cataratas and a longer lunch; the extension is optional.

Day 2 morning: aviaries and a break at Parque das Aves

Parque das Aves is on Rodovia das Cataratas, km 17.1, beside the national park entrance. Although the two can share a day, here we suggest a morning for macaw, toucan and river-and-mangrove bird aviaries. This also allows time for the Atlantic Forest conservation work presented by the park.

When checked, the listed opening hours were 08:30–16:30 daily. Starting in the morning leaves plenty of time to explore and eat before continuing to Marco das Três Fronteiras.

Restaurante Sabores da Floresta at the trail's start is the lunch suggestion. For breaks during the visit, the complex also confirms Bistrô da Mata on the route and Café da Praça. Choose to suit the morning's pace, leaving an interval between aviaries and afternoon outing.

Day 2 afternoon: the rivers’ confluence and dinner at Marco

After Parque das Aves, arrange transport to Marco das Três Fronteiras. Arrive after 15:00, explore the obelisk and continue to the viewpoint where the Iguaçu and Paraná meet. This observes border geography without adding an international crossing.

Scenic staging and performances associated with the three countries complete the visit. Check the day's programme before deciding how long to stay: the guide lists Tuesday-to-Sunday opening but conflicting starting hours. Use arrival after 15:00 as a reference and confirm service for your date.

To finish without another address change, dine at Restaurante Cabeza de Vaca. Brazilian, Argentine and Paraguayan references suit the outing's theme. Check service when organising the visit.

Day 3: Itaipu, Ecomuseu and lunch before Mercado Barrageiro

Begin with Itaipu Panorâmica. Its bus circuit covers outdoor areas including Avenida dos Condutos Forçados and the dam top, stopping at Mirante Central and Mirante Vertedouro. It introduces the plant's scale before regional history. Operational needs may change the route, and an open spillway is not guaranteed.

Book Panorâmica early and continue to Ecomuseu. Território de Memórias, Território Ilustrado and Ciência na Esfera add context to the dam. The operator presents the museum as free, estimates an hour and lists Wednesday-to-Monday hours, 08:30–16:00. Check available Panorâmica times to combine both before lunch.

For food, continue to Le Mir Comida Árabe, Rua Jorge Sanwais, 1146, in the centre. It presents contemporary Arab cooking with a Nazzel menu, à la carte dishes and portions. Sit and lunch slowly after morning visits. The checked page lists 12:00–23:00 service, closed on the month's last Sunday.

After lunch, visit Mercado Público Barrageiro at Avenida Araucária, 140, Vila A. Explore food, craft and cultural product commerce. Allow time to look and circulate; the day's meal is already covered at Le Mir.

This sequence leaves the Itaipu area for central lunch and returns to Vila A. Compare car, taxi or ride-hailing for these legs. For less travel, do Panorâmica and Ecomuseu, lunch at Le Mir and end outings there without returning to the market.

According to checked hours, the full route fits Wednesday to Sunday, except the month's last Sunday because of Le Mir. The market lists free entry, Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–22:00 and Sunday 09:00–22:00.

Want a different focus? Itaipu Especial adds indoor areas and lasts approximately 2½ hours, an alternative to Panorâmica for engineering interests. Refúgio Biológico Bela Vista can replace Ecomuseu: it includes dedicated tour transport and a roughly 2 km walk, with an estimated total of 2½ hours and limited places. Check times before booking these versions, omit Mercado Barrageiro and keep Le Mir after outings, knowing the meal may be later.

Day 4 morning: Chen Tien Buddhist Temple gardens

Reserve the start of day four for Templo Budista Chen Tien after confirming visiting hours. Built in 1996 by regional Chinese communities, it has gardens, sculptures and views of Foz and Ciudad del Este. The Municipal Tourism Department presents the visit as free.

Walk calmly through the gardens and discover a religious space. Wear modest clothing, keep quiet and respect sculptures. Then take transport to central Le Mir for lunch; include journeys between temple, restaurant and mosque in the day's planning.

Day 4 afternoon: Arab lunch and a guided mosque visit

In the centre, Le Mir Comida Árabe returns as a break between religious spaces. If you lunched there on Itaipu day, explore another part of the available menu: Nazzel, à la carte and portions. The address is Rua Jorge Sanwais, 1146; the suggestion remains a leisurely lunch before the guided visit.

The restaurant lists 12:00–23:00 opening and closure on the last Sunday monthly. For this full sequence, prefer Monday to Saturday to match mosque visits.

In the afternoon, continue to Mesquita Omar Ibn Al-Khattab at Rua Meca, 599. Centro Cultural Beneficente Islâmico offers guided visits in Portuguese and other languages. Explanations add to observing the building and reveal another cultural side of Foz.

The website lists visits Mondays, 14:00–17:30, and Tuesday to Saturday, 08:30–11:30 and 14:00–17:30. Confirm admission and clothing guidance before going. If day four falls on Sunday, swap it with waterfalls or Parque das Aves–Marco.

Adapt the order to opening days and events

Before booking tickets, arrange the outings around the days of the week. According to the schedules checked, Itaipu with Ecomuseu and Mercado Barrageiro works best from Wednesday to Sunday; avoid the last Sunday of the month to keep lunch at Le Mir. Marco fits Tuesday to Sunday, and the temple day must follow the mosque’s Monday-to-Saturday visiting schedule. The falls and Parque das Aves help you rearrange the order, always with hours rechecked.

The official municipal calendar was checked on 24 October 2026, but accessible programming did not confirm specific future events to add. Check near travel: a confirmed event may guide a day swap. Confirm Marco's regular performances directly with the attraction.

Turn the itinerary into packing and budgeting

Once outings are distributed, use Mala Inteligente for a checklist based on climate profile, duration and traveller count. Include arrival and departure and review for rainwear, comfortable trail shoes and clothing suited to religious visits.

In the travel calculator, enter Foz do Iguaçu, total days, people and desired style. Compare accommodation, food and transport estimates in reais with a 15% margin. They are illustrative references, not quotations; check admissions and transport to Foz separately.

Viajandar's Foz do Iguaçu page brings municipal information and links to restaurants, cafés, accommodation, agencies and arrival guidance. Use it after choosing your base and visit order, when evaluating relevant services becomes easier.

Your itinerary, ready to save

Full day 1 — waterfalls

Start at Parque Nacional do Iguaçu's visitor centre, take the bus to Trilha das Cataratas and explore viewpoints and walkway. Lunch at Canoas Mirim. For a longer visit, arrange Circuito São João access via internal transport.

Prefer an alternative? For less afternoon walking, keep only Trilha das Cataratas and Canoas Mirim lunch, without Circuito São João.

Full day 2 — Parque das Aves and Marco das Três Fronteiras

Devote the morning to Parque das Aves and lunch at Sabores da Floresta. Pause before travelling to Marco, with arrival suggested after 15:00. Explore the viewpoint, check performances and dine at Cabeza de Vaca.

Prefer an alternative? For smaller breaks between aviaries, use Bistrô da Mata along the route and leave the main meal for Cabeza de Vaca at Marco.

Full day 3 — Itaipu, Ecomuseu, central lunch and Mercado Barrageiro

Book Itaipu Panorâmica early and visit Ecomuseu next. Lunch at Le Mir in the centre. Visit Mercado Público Barrageiro in Vila A in the afternoon for food, craft and cultural product commerce. Include travel to the centre and back towards Itaipu; avoid the last Sunday monthly, when Le Mir lists closure.

Prefer an alternative? Replace Panorâmica with Itaipu Especial for engineering. For more nature, keep Panorâmica and replace Ecomuseu with booked Refúgio Biológico Bela Vista. On these longer versions, omit Mercado Barrageiro and preserve Le Mir after outings.

Full day 4 — Buddhist temple, Arab cooking and mosque

Begin in Chen Tien Buddhist Temple's gardens at confirmed visiting hours. Take transport to central Le Mir for lunch. In the afternoon, join a guided visit at Mesquita Omar Ibn Al-Khattab on Rua Meca.

Prefer an alternative? If Sunday, swap with waterfalls or Parque das Aves and Marco and reserve a Monday-to-Saturday afternoon for the mosque.

Before you go

  • Allow four whole sightseeing days and add arrival and departure journeys.
  • Prefer Wednesday to Sunday for Itaipu, avoiding the last Sunday monthly for Le Mir lunch. Schedule Marco Tuesday to Sunday and the mosque Monday to Saturday.

Questions to help you decide

What fits four full days in Foz do Iguaçu?

Four whole days provide variety on the Brazilian side, excluding arrival and departure. This does not include Argentina or Paraguay or claim to exhaust Foz attractions.

Can I visit waterfalls and Parque das Aves on one day?

Yes, proximity allows it: Parque das Aves is beside the national park entrance. Here they are separated for waterfalls with lunch and an optional extra walk, then aviaries without rushing before Marco.

Do I need to rent a car?

Not necessarily. The municipal source links 120 with the airport, Parque das Aves and falls, 101/102 with Itaipu and 103 with the Buddhist temple. Check current routes. Taxis, ride-hailing or transfers can complement buses, especially temples, returning from Marco and Itaipu with central lunch.

Where should I lunch on waterfalls day?

Canoas Mirim is in Espaço Porto Canoas at the end of Trilha das Cataratas, serving a Brazilian buffet. Park admission is required. On 24/10/2026, its page listed daily service, 12:00–16:00.

Where should I lunch on Itaipu day?

We suggest Le Mir Comida Árabe at Rua Jorge Sanwais, 1146, in the centre, after Panorâmica and Ecomuseu. This means leaving the Itaipu area; the Mercado Barrageiro visit follows lunch and involves returning to Vila A. The market is included for its food, craft and cultural product stalls, without relying on it for a meal.

Which Itaipu tour should I choose?

Panorâmica combines outdoor plant areas and Ecomuseu. Especial adds indoor areas and lasts approximately 2½ hours. Choose by interest and check conditions before purchasing.

Does this itinerary work on any day of the week?

Checked hours favour Wednesday to Sunday for Itaipu, Ecomuseu and Mercado Barrageiro, but Le Mir closes the last Sunday monthly. Marco lists Tuesday to Sunday, the mosque Monday to Saturday, Monday afternoons only. Reorder for your travel calendar.
