Curitiba in four days: museums, gardens and parks by area
Four full days in Curitiba with the centre, MON, Botanical Garden, Tanguá and Tingui: outings by area, documented free admission and food breaks.

GETTING STARTED
Arrange four full days by area: historic centre; MON and Bosque do Papa; Botanical Garden, Municipal Market and Passeio Público; Tanguá and Tingui. Adjust the order to opening days and free MON admission, excluding arrival and departure.
Who it is for: First-time visitors to Curitiba who want museums, parks and walks while managing admission and transport costs.Start with the calendar and group outings by area
You can combine the centre, MON, Botanical Garden and parks without returning to the same corner of the city every day. Arrange four full days as follows: historic centre; MON and Bosque do Papa; Botanical Garden, Municipal Market and Passeio Público; Tanguá and Tingui. Arrival and departure are excluded. This is a selection for a first visit, with room to go inside and take breaks.
Before numbering the days on your calendar, look for a Wednesday or the last Sunday of the month: MON has free admission on those dates. Then fit in the remaining outings. MON and Museu Paranaense open Tuesday to Sunday; Passeio Público also closes on Mondays. If your stay includes a Monday, the Tanguá and Tingui day is the simplest suggestion to move, without relying on the Ukrainian Memorial’s interior.
Savings here come from concrete decisions: using confirmed free admission, walking between central stops and comparing transport for farther stretches. Adding an accommodation night solely for free admission is not worthwhile without first calculating the full cost.
Choose accommodation around the routes you will take
For this itinerary, I suggest comparing two bases: the centre, using Paço da Liberdade and the historic district as reference points, and Centro Cívico for MON and Bosque do Papa. In the centre, your accommodation is closer to the first day’s sights; in Centro Cívico, your base is closer to the stops on the art and Polish immigration outing.
Compare each property’s exact address with all four days, rather than just its neighbourhood name. An apparently attractive nightly rate may bring more journeys. Before booking, see how to reach Paço, MON and the Botanical Garden and how arrival with luggage will work. The evidence does not allow promises of lower rates in either area.
Use transport to connect areas, choosing tickets deliberately
The Paço–Largo da Ordem–Museu Paranaense route is designed as a walking sequence. Botanical Garden–Municipal Market and Tanguá–Tingui require transport planning: do not treat these pairs as adjacent attractions. Suggestion: compare bus routes with other available options using your starting address and next stop, avoiding hotel returns between visits.
Linha Turismo passes attractions in this itinerary, including Paço, Botanical Garden, Municipal Market, MON, Tanguá, Tingui and the historic district. Its individual card is bought on buses and permits unlimited boarding for 24 hours. It may be useful on a day with several legs, but check circuit direction and compare the current cost with what you will actually use. The official page gives differing final-service times; confirm the last service you need.
Afonso Pena Airport is in São José dos Pinhais, approximately 18 km from central Curitiba. The operator lists routes 515, Terminal Central–Airport, and E32, Airport–Terminal Boqueirão, plus taxis. Consider the whole journey to accommodation: connections, luggage and total cost. Available information does not establish a direct bus to your hotel or integrated fares.
Day 1: Paço, coffee and history in the centre
Start at Paço da Liberdade, Praça Generoso Marques, 189. Observe the exterior and go inside to discover available cultural spaces: the site brings together a library, art space, shop and bookshop. Paço opens at 10:00 Tuesday to Saturday and 11:00 on Sundays and public holidays; adjust your start accordingly rather than arriving too early expecting everything to operate.
The suggested break is Café do Paço inside the cultural venue, before continuing to Largo da Ordem. Its official page presents coffees, sweet treats and savoury food, making it a snack stop during the morning or early afternoon. Confirm café service: its own hours were not provided, and the venue’s hours do not automatically apply to every space.
At Largo da Ordem, explore the historic ensemble, using the Ordem and Rosário churches and drinking trough as reference points. Then continue to Museu Paranaense at Rua Kellers, 289, São Francisco. Admission is free and the museum opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–17:30. Reserve part of the afternoon for going inside rather than arriving just to see the façade. In rain, shorten the walk and give more time to Paço and the museum.

Paço da Liberdade is the starting point for your day in the city centre, before the walk to Largo da Ordem.

Begin the second day inside Museu Oscar Niemeyer. The eye-shaped architecture attracts attention, but the idea is to save the morning for its galleries rather than limit the outing to an exterior photograph. MON opens Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00–18:00, with admission until 17:30. On Wednesdays and the last Sunday of the month, admission is free; ticket collection may end earlier on busy days.
Afterwards, take the suggested break at MON Café in the outdoor area beside the ticket office. Access is independent of admission, and it offers coffees, sweet treats and savoury food; listed hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–19:00. It is a practical snack stop before Bosque do Papa without adding another neighbourhood. Purchases are a separate expense.
At Bosque do Papa, the free visit combines walking with reassembled log houses and domestic objects in the Polish Immigration Memorial. Use the entrance at Rua Wellington de Oliveira Viana, 33. The woodland opens daily 08:00–17:30; the memorial opens Tuesday to Sunday for the same hours. Leave MON with time for this second visit: leaving the museum until late afternoon and fitting in the memorial afterwards will not work.

Leave time to go inside MON: its galleries are the focus of this art day.

Reserve the third morning for the Botanical Garden, with free admission and listed daily hours of 06:00–19:30. Start with the iron-and-glass glasshouse and continue through geometric gardens. Giving the site a morning lets you walk beyond the best-known view without leaving after your first photograph.
Galeria Cultural Quatro Estações and Centro de Ilustração Botânica are also listed among the venue’s spaces. Include them according to opening arrangements that day before heading to lunch at the Municipal Market. The municipal source also mentions Café Senac inside the gallery if you want a break during the visit; confirm local service.
Do not treat the archival photograph as a promise of the same flowering beds. The glasshouse, gardens and cultural spaces make the visit worthwhile, regardless of what is in bloom. After the visit, travel to the market: the two places are not immediate neighbours.

At the Botanical Garden, the morning can include a garden walk beyond the stop in front of the glasshouse.

The lunch suggestion is the Municipal Market at Avenida Sete de Setembro, 1865. It brings together restaurants and stalls, letting you eat and continue the outing at one address. Choose where to sit according to the menu and displayed prices that day; this selection names no particular restaurant with a confirmed dish or price.
Tuesday to Saturday, the market’s listed opening hours are 08:00–18:00. On Sunday, stalls operate until 13:00 and restaurants until 15:00: leave the Botanical Garden earlier if you want to explore the market before lunch. Monday opening is optional, 08:00–14:00, making it a weaker choice for relying on this combination.
Then continue via Praça Santos Andrade and finish the afternoon at Passeio Público in the centre. Admission is free, with lakes, bridges and tree-lined paths that change the pace after museum and market. The park opens Tuesday to Sunday; walk in the afternoon without relying on the final hour, as official closing times differ. In rain, move Museu Paranaense from day 1 to this afternoon, arriving before 17:30, and avoid repeating the visit.
Day 4: Tanguá’s gardens and Tingui’s architecture
Begin day four at Tanguá, Rua Oswaldo Maciel, 97. The park has free access and opens daily 06:00–20:00. Devote the morning to Jardim Poty Lazzarotto, viewpoints and paths in this complex formed in former quarries. The tunnel is closed, including for supervised visits, and is excluded from the itinerary.
Then use transport to Tingui. Pairing the parks keeps them on one day but does not remove the journey between them. In Tingui, walk through Praça Brasil 500 Anos and look for the Tindiquera statue and Emanoel Araújo sculpture. Continue to the Ukrainian Memorial, whose complex includes a replica wooden chapel and bell tower, with references to pysanky. Confirm hours if you want to go inside.
Suggestion: bring water and a snack for this sequence, as the evidence gathered does not confirm a particular food stop in the parks. To leave Tanguá until last and try to see sunset, start at Tingui and rearrange transport. Do not assume Linha Turismo will still be passing for your return; check before leaving.

Tanguá’s gardens begin the day that continues to Tingui, using transport between visits.

If your four days overlap with 2–18 October 2026, add the Special Spring and Children’s Fairs. This edition is confirmed in Osório and Santos Andrade squares. I suggest Praça Osório at the end of your day in the city centre: handicrafts and food stalls beside the fountain extend the outing without a separate journey to a distant area.
At Osório, advertised hours are Monday to Saturday 10:00–21:00 and Sunday 14:00–20:00. Budget for whatever you decide to eat or buy. The calendar was consulted on 7 October 2026, and the period was confirmed in an official news item. For trips after 18 October, remove this stop and consult the programme for your dates.
From itinerary to budget and packing
To see spending before booking, open the Travel Calculator and enter Curitiba, total duration, number of people and travel style. Include arrival and departure even if only part of those days is spent in the city. The tool presents an estimate in reais divided into accommodation, food, transport and a buffer, using reference figures; the result is not a price quote.
Compare the estimate with room rates and transport you research. In this itinerary, the Botanical Garden, Museu Paranaense, Bosque do Papa, Tanguá and Passeio Público have documented free admission, and MON may join them depending on the date. This helps separate admission from costs that remain, such as meals, cafés and travel.
Then turn the outing into a checklist in Mala Inteligente. Select climate, total duration and traveller profiles; review the list with the forecast shortly before departure. For these days, check that you have walking shoes, rain protection and a bag for water and the park-day snack.
Which option suits you?
| Option | A good fit if… | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Accommodation in the city centre | Anyone wanting to start with Paço da Liberdade and the historic district. | It suits the first day, but journeys to MON and the parks are still needed. Compare addresses; the neighbourhood does not guarantee a lower nightly rate. |
| Accommodation in Centro Cívico | Anyone who prefers to stay near MON and Bosque do Papa. | It suits day two; also check the route to the centre and Botanical Garden before booking. |
| Reorder the days for a free MON visit | Anyone whose four days include a Wednesday or the last Sunday of the month. | Free admission can mean more visitors. Arrive in the morning and do not count on collecting a ticket close to closing. |
| Linha Turismo | Anyone planning to use several sections of the sightseeing circuit within 24 hours. | The individual card allows unlimited boarding during that period, but only comparison with your routes shows whether it is worthwhile. |
| Tanguá in the morning and Tingui afterwards | Anyone who prefers more time in each park. | Transport is needed between parks. To finish at Tanguá for sunset, reverse the sequence and check return transport. |
Your itinerary, ready to save
Day 1 — Centre and history
Start at Paço da Liberdade after opening, pause at Café do Paço and walk to Largo da Ordem. Finish the cultural visit at Museu Paranaense before 17:30. From 2 to 18 October 2026, add Praça Osório’s fair at the end.
Prefer an alternative? If the morning is rainy, give more time to Paço da Liberdade and Museu Paranaense, shortening the Largo da Ordem walk. If it is a Monday, swap this day with Tanguá–Tingui.Day 2 — Art and Polish immigration
Visit MON in the morning from 10:00. Have a snack at MON Café and continue to Bosque do Papa, entering at Rua Wellington de Oliveira Viana, 33, with time for the Polish Immigration Memorial.
Prefer an alternative? If your stay includes a Wednesday or last Sunday of the month, put MON on that date. In persistent rain, extend the museum visit and MON Café break; move Bosque do Papa to a better-weather afternoon before 17:30.Day 3 — Garden, market and tree-lined paths
Devote the morning to the Botanical Garden’s glasshouse and gardens. Then travel to the Municipal Market for lunch and a look around the stalls. Continue via Praça Santos Andrade and finish the afternoon at Passeio Público.
Prefer an alternative? If it rains in the afternoon, use Museu Paranaense instead of Passeio Público and remove it from day 1 to avoid repetition. On Sunday, bring the market forward: stalls close at 13:00 and restaurants operate until 15:00.Day 4 — Tanguá and Tingui
Start with Tanguá’s gardens and viewpoints, excluding its closed tunnel. Use transport to Tingui and walk through the park, including the Ukrainian Memorial’s architecture. Bring a snack so you do not rely on a food stop with unverified opening arrangements.
Prefer an alternative? To try to see sunset at Tanguá, start with Tingui and leave Tanguá until last, with your return planned. If persistent rain is forecast, swap this day with MON or the centre, respecting opening days. Before you go
- Arrange the four days according to your actual calendar: MON, Museu Paranaense and Passeio Público close on Mondays. Prioritise Wednesday or the last Sunday of the month for free MON admission.
- Reconfirm hours close to your trip, especially on public holidays. Paço’s hours do not establish continuous Café do Paço service.
- MON’s listed visiting hours are 10:00–18:00, with admission until 17:30; ticket collection may finish earlier on busy days.
- Use the Bosque do Papa entrance at Rua Wellington de Oliveira Viana, 33, and arrive with time for the memorial before 17:30.
- On Sunday, organise lunch and Municipal Market stalls around their different closing times. Monday opening is optional.
- Exclude Tanguá’s tunnel and confirm interior hours at the Ukrainian Memorial if that visit is essential to you.
- Check Linha Turismo’s direction, intervals and final service at the stops you plan to use; do not rely on it for the return after sunset without confirmation.
- For the airport, compare the full routes of lines 515 and E32 to your accommodation, including connections and luggage. The source does not establish integrated fares.
- Include the Spring and Children’s Fairs only if your trip coincides with 2–18 October 2026. For other dates, recheck the official calendar.
- In the calculator and Mala Inteligente, use total time away from home, including arrival and departure, rather than only the four sightseeing days.
Questions to help you decide
Do the four days include arrival and departure?
This itinerary uses four full sightseeing days, excluding arrival and departure. It is a selection of places to explore with time for museums, gardens and breaks, without attempting to see everything in Curitiba.
Which visits have documented free admission?
The sources confirm free admission to the Botanical Garden, Museu Paranaense, Bosque do Papa, Tanguá and Passeio Público. MON has free admission on Wednesdays and the last Sunday of the month. Café purchases and transport are separate expenses.
How should I adapt the itinerary if it includes a Monday?
Preferably use Monday for Tanguá and Tingui without relying on access inside the Ukrainian Memorial. MON, Museu Paranaense and Passeio Público close that day. The Botanical Garden opens daily, but opening at the Municipal Market is optional on Mondays.
Is Linha Turismo always cheaper?
It depends on the routes you will take. The individual card offers unlimited boarding for 24 hours. Compare its current cost with your required journeys and check the circuit direction and times before deciding.
Which area should I choose for accommodation?
Suggestion: compare addresses in the centre, for access to Paço and the historic district, and Centro Cívico, for MON and Bosque do Papa. Include other days’ routes and airport arrival in your calculations; there is no evidence that either area always has lower nightly rates.
Can I go to MON Café without visiting the museum?
Yes. MON states that the café is outside beside the ticket office and can be accessed without admission. Purchases are paid separately.
Is there a confirmed event to fit into the outing?
From 2 to 18 October 2026, the Special Spring and Children’s Fairs are confirmed in Osório and Santos Andrade squares. Osório fits well at the end of your city-centre walk. For other dates, check the official calendar; the research does not establish that other events are absent.
