São José dos Campos in 3 days: parks, planes and Festivale, 13–15 November 2026
Spend three full days in São José dos Campos, 13–15 November 2026, with parks, aircraft, Festivale and practical choices to cut travel time.

GETTING STARTED
Group Centro and Santana together on Friday, visit the Memorial Aeroespacial Brasileiro and Parque Santos Dumont on Saturday, and combine Vicentina Aranha with Festivale on Sunday. Compare accommodation in Centro and Vila Adyana, and book your theatre tickets before arranging your evening transport.
Who it is for: Travellers who enjoy parks, heritage and aviation and want to combine free attractions, Festivale and well-located accommodation.Three days with attractions grouped by area
You can combine woodland, aviation history and theatre over these three days without crossing São José dos Campos for every outing. Start Friday in Centro and continue to Santana, devote Saturday to the Memorial Aeroespacial Brasileiro and Parque Santos Dumont, and leave Sunday for Vicentina Aranha and the closing day of Festivale.
This itinerary covers three full days, from 13 to 15 November 2026, excluding arrival and departure. It stays within the urban area; São Francisco Xavier deserves time of its own. To manage your spending, visit Parque da Cidade and Museu do Folclore on the same outing, take advantage of free admission to the Memorial, and choose accommodation based on the journeys you will actually make.
Centro or Vila Adyana: choose based on where you plan to go
For this itinerary, compare Centro and Vila Adyana first. Centro works well for Friday morning: Mercado Municipal, Praça Afonso Pena and lunch at Bar Coronel all fit into the same outing. It is a base worth considering if you like to begin a trip by walking through shopping streets and exploring urban heritage.
Vila Adyana is a strong option because it features on two days: Parque Santos Dumont is at Rua Prudente Meirelles de Moraes, 1000, and Vicentina Aranha is at number 302 on the same street. If parks are your priority, start your search there and compare each property's address with the entrances to the attractions.
Choose based on ease of travel and check nightly rates for your dates. Before booking, add up accommodation and transport costs: a cheaper place to stay may no longer be worthwhile if it adds paid rides to every outing. Both Centro and Vila Adyana still require journeys to Santana and to the Memorial in Martim Cererê.
Friday morning: the market, the square and a stop at Bar Coronel
Start Friday, 13 November 2026, at Mercado Municipal, between Rua Siqueira Campos, Rua Sete de Setembro, Rua Sebastião Humel and Travessa Chico Luiz. The city government lists opening hours of 7am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Browse the market to get a feel for Centro, then extend your walk to Praça Afonso Pena, where Igreja São Benedito stands at number 267. Its exterior is worth a look during your walk, without relying on the church being open.
For lunch or a snack break, consider Bar Coronel Centro at Rua Francisco Rafael, 298. Its official website lists bolinho caipira, pastel de carne seca, feijoada and parmegiana. The bolinho caipira is a good reason to include this stop, which also fits into your morning in Centro. Confirm opening hours and available dishes before you go.
After eating, head to Santana and combine both afternoon visits within Parque da Cidade. This lets you finish the Centro part of the day before moving to another area, without having to return just to fit in lunch.
Friday afternoon: gardens and Museu do Folclore in one outing
Parque da Cidade Roberto Burle Marx is at Avenida Olivo Gomes, 100, in Santana. Set aside the afternoon to walk among tree-lined paths, wooded areas and lakes, and to see the gardens by Burle Marx and the exterior of Residência Olivo Gomes, designed by Rino Levi. This combination of landscape design and architecture is best explored on foot, with breaks along the way. The park's published opening hours are 6am to 6pm.
Within the same park, Museu do Folclore Angela Savastano adds stories of the region to your walk: its permanent exhibition explores intangible heritage, folklore and regional identity. According to the museum's official page, admission to the exhibitions is free, and they are open on Fridays from 9am to 5pm. Individuals can visit without booking; groups need to book.
Take the walk first if the weather is favourable, but leave time to visit the museum before 5pm. If it rains, reverse the order: start with the exhibition and leave the lakes and gardens for later. You can keep both visits in the same afternoon without adding another trip to Santana.

The lakes form part of the walk through Parque da Cidade; use the same trip to Santana to visit Museu do Folclore, which is not shown in the image.

Saturday morning: aircraft and rockets at the Memorial
On Saturday, 14 November 2026, start at the Memorial Aeroespacial Brasileiro. INPE describes indoor and outdoor collections of aircraft and rockets, including the EMB-110, EMB-120, Super Tucano and a full-scale model of the VLS. Set aside the morning to look at the exhibits at leisure: here, the size of the aircraft and rocket is part of the experience.
The Memorial itself states that admission and parking are free and that it opens Tuesday to Sunday, including public holidays, from 9am to 5pm, with exceptions on other dates in the calendar. Individual visits and family visits with fewer than ten people do not require booking and are self-guided.
To get there, use Rua Dra. Tânia Lis Tizzoni Nogueira, with no street number, in Martim Cererê, beside the airport. Plan your transport there and your onward journey to Parque Santos Dumont, the afternoon's outing. If it rains, start with the indoor collection and leave the outdoor area until the weather improves.

The Memorial's outdoor exhibition brings a different sense of scale to the walk among aircraft and rockets, complementing the visit to the indoor collection.

Saturday afternoon: more aviation among the trees
After the Memorial and a lunch break, head to Parque Santos Dumont in Vila Adyana. The pairing works thematically: after exploring the aerospace collection, you will find a replica of the 14-Bis, a Bandeirante prototype and models of Sonda rockets in the park, according to the city government's description.
The park also has a Japanese garden, a lake and a playground, so you can alternate between aviation exhibits and a more leisurely walk during the afternoon. Published hours for the attractions are 7am to 4:45pm; arrive with plenty of time to enjoy them. The extended opening hours are for walking.
If you choose to see Verdugo at Cine Santana that evening, make this a shorter visit and check your route before leaving. This alternative suits anyone who will not be staying for Sunday's theatre performance, but it adds a return trip to the northern part of the city. Include that transport when comparing the two evenings.

At Parque Santos Dumont, the afternoon combines a walk among the trees with references to aviation, following a morning devoted to the Memorial.

Sunday: heritage and Meu Alento at Vicentina Aranha
On Sunday, 15 November 2026, go to Parque Vicentina Aranha before 10am. The former sanatorium complex includes woodland, pavilions and a chapel; use your walk to admire the exteriors of these heritage buildings. Access to the interiors depends on the rules for each space. The entrance is at Rua Prudente Meirelles de Moraes, 302, and the park's published opening hours are 6am to 9pm.
At 10am, the park hosts Meu Alento, a confirmed performance in the 40th Festivale programme, with an age rating of 12+. This is the itinerary's most direct combination of park and festival: you arrive for a walk and stay for the show, without adding another journey to your morning.
Afterwards, leave time for lunch and a rest before the evening theatre performance. If you cannot get a ticket for Eu de Você, return to Vicentina Aranha in the late afternoon to finish your walk through the woodland and around the exteriors of the complex. You can end the day in Vila Adyana itself, without relying on a last-minute ticket becoming available.

Look at the chapel's exterior during your walk through Vicentina Aranha and combine the visit with Meu Alento, scheduled for Sunday morning in the park.

Book your theatre tickets before arranging your evening outing
The 40th Festivale is confirmed for 4–15 November 2026, with a free programme. To round off these three days, the suggested performance is Eu de Você, starring Denise Fraga, at 8pm on 15 November 2026 at Teatro Municipal, with an age rating of 12+. This choice makes the most of the festival's final evening; plan your departure for after the performance if you want to attend.
If you need to leave earlier, the alternative is Verdugo on 14 November 2026 at 7pm at Cine Santana, with an age rating of 16+. It fits after Parque Santos Dumont, provided you allow time to travel to Santana.
In its update of 3 November 2026, the Fundação Cultural states that bookings are made through Eventuxi, with advance registration, a limit of two tickets per CPF and tickets released two days before each performance. Follow the Foundation's channels for the opening of bookings for Eu de Você on 13 November 2026 and Verdugo on 12 November 2026. Secure your booking before arranging your evening outing.
The announcement also specifies a donation of one packet of wheat flour or cornmeal for admission. Check the instructions for your chosen performance and set the item aside with the things you will take to the theatre.
Where to cut costs without dropping any visits
Walk between attractions within each cluster and check transport options when moving to another area. The city government lists Cittamobi, Moovit and Google Maps among the apps for bus information. Compare routes from your accommodation to Santana and the Memorial before booking rides, and check bus routes, timetables and fares close to your trip.
If you arrive via Guarulhos, it is worth researching the Pássaro Marron bus connection to the Terminal Rodoviário Intermunicipal de São José dos Campos, mentioned in INPE's arrival guidance. Check whether the service is operating, along with departures and fares for your dates, before relying on this option. When comparing it with travelling by car, also include transport from the bus terminal to your accommodation.
Use the Viajandar calculator to estimate the cost of your entire stay, including arrival and departure where they involve expenses. The tool uses reference prices in Brazilian reais for accommodation, food and transport, with a 15% margin. Treat the result as an illustrative estimate and compare it with the room rates and fares you find. As admission to the Memorial and Museu do Folclore is free, it is worth focusing more closely on accommodation, meal and transport costs.
Pack for the parks and the theatre
Once you have chosen your accommodation and performances, use Mala Inteligente to create a checklist based on the total length of your trip, the weather and who is travelling. Check the forecast close to departure and review the list with these outings in mind: walking shoes, rain protection and the items you usually take when spending part of the day in parks.
The São José dos Campos page on Viajandar brings together information about the municipality and links for dining, accommodation and planning. Use it to continue exploring the city and compare the addresses of options in Centro and Vila Adyana. Before finalising your trip, pay particular attention to your accommodation's location and your booking for the indoor performance: these choices help you organise your journeys over the three days.
